Good to know

Frequently asked.

New to the sport or getting ready for a season? Here are a few helpful basics.

What is inline hockey?+

Roller hockey and inline hockey are names used for the same sport. It is commonly played indoors on a regulation-sized rink with plastic flooring and inline skates. PIRHL games are 4-on-4, with no offsides or icing and no checking.

I have never played before. How can I get involved?+

PT Inline welcomes new players. Contact the club to ask about trying a practice or the next placement opportunity for your age group.

What equipment do players need?+

The club lists a certified helmet, mouthguard, elbow pads, hockey gloves, inline padded shorts, cup, shin pads, inline skates, and a stick. Confirm current requirements with the club before purchasing.

What is a typical season like?+

Practices have been held on Thursday evenings, with team times arranged by age group. League games generally take place through the fall and winter, followed by PIRHL playoffs.

How are teams and tiers determined?+

Players attend seasonal tryouts, and rosters are set afterward. The PIRHL uses tiers to support competitive matchups; placement and team counts can vary from season to season.
